Soon our nation will celebrate what should be the most important holiday…Memorial Day. It will be observed on Monday, May 30.
Many schools will be teaching lessons linked with why this holiday is so significant. Families will remember their loved ones who fought for our freedom and will honor those who are still with us to share stories of serving our country.
It is my hope that people will take time to talk with children and teenagers about remembering the fallen soldiers and always being grateful that they protected our freedoms throughout history. May we also actively engage students in activities that help those in the military who presently serve our country overseas and who may be in Veteran Hospitals. Writing letters and creating cards will always be a means for showing support and thanks.
